According to researchers, potatoes which have been boiled for 8 minutes can create a battery which produces 10 times more power than regular batteries. Namely, Haim Rabinovitch, a professor of science and agriculture, placed cooked potato slices between a copper cathode and a zinc anode and then connected them with a wire. It was discovered that this design has the power to light up a room with LED lights for 40 days.
This is a groundbreaking research, especially for the people from the underdeveloped parts of the world
Why potatoes ?
Because the world has a lot of it, i.e. they grow everywhere, including tropical and subtropical climate. The potato itself isn’t a source of energy. It just acts as a bridge between the metal, and thus, allows the electrons to freely move through the wire, which results in production of electricity.
